Four keywords to find into the headphone concept
This headphone is based on a music title, which has been translated into the form of an headphone. STIRLING was developed from the song 'Shatter me', created by the violinist and performance artist Lindsey Stirling. The goal here is not full functionality. The prototype is mainly to show possibilities for design and material.
Sketches
Model making
The model was created on the basis of the elaborated sketch. A rigid polyurethane foam is used as the forming material. The foam blocks were roughly shaped and then filed, filled and sanded.
Electroplating
For the silver finish, the painted surface was treated with a conductive liquid and the model was then immersed in an electrolytic bath. The silver layer was then polished until the chrome effect was achieved. Isolated imperfections in the surface were deliberately not polished out, as they arose spontaneously during electroplating and give the surface an inimitable appearance.
