Heliconia
Countertop Kitchen Tool / Rhino
Water should have certain properties: alive, vital and energizing. Unfortunately, our tap water does not have these properties anymore, when it comes out of the tap. However, it has many pollutants which should not enter the body in a high dose. The aim of this project is a water filter, which removes harmful substances from the water and returns the lost original properties
Sketches
The design is inspired by the shape of the inflorescence of the Heliconia plant.
Model
The filter vessels should not hide their contents, but show them clearly and make the filter materials understandable and visible as part of the system. Thus, the filtering process no longer takes place in secret. The material is stainless steel, plastic based on renewable raw materials, and beech wood.
The water flows, slowed down by a ceramic disc that functions as a sieve, into the filter modules. In individual steps, it is filtered differently depending on the contact with the various filter materials.
