Heliconia

Countertop Kitchen Tool / Rhino

Water should have certain properties: alive, vital and energizing. Unfortunately, our tap water does not have these properties anymore, when it comes out of the tap. However, it has many pollutants which should not enter the body in a high dose. The aim of this project is a water filter, which removes harmful substances from the water and returns the lost original properties

Properties of water

alive

Good water should be "alive" and "empty". Ideally, spring water should be low in minerals and unpolluted.

vital

The lower the content of minerals and pollutants in water, the greater the ability to bind substances in the body and transport them into the cells or release them from the body.

energizing

Due to constant movement of water, centrifugal forces are created, which can dissolve the hydrogen bonds between water molecules. Energized and (positively) informed water has a different structure and therefore a different information content.

Water requirement

The water requirement of an adult human being is 2.5 liters of of pure water per day

Enriches water with minerals and trace elements

Plants like Veronica beccabunga filter pollutants from the water and act as natural biological filters.

Natural detoxification with clinoptilolite. It removes dissolved organic substances, such as residues of medicines or pesticides, from the water. Dissolved salts or lime can not be filtered.

Activated carbon removes chlorine, heavy metals and many other pollutants from drinking water. It can be replaced and disposed of in organic waste.

Ceramic has fine pores that bacteria and individual cells can not pass. It is used to clean the water from harmful microorganisms.

Sketches

The design is inspired by the shape of the inflorescence of the Heliconia plant.

Model

The filter vessels should not hide their contents, but show them clearly and make the filter materials understandable and visible as part of the system. Thus, the filtering process no longer takes place in secret. The material is stainless steel, plastic based on renewable raw materials, and beech wood.

The water flows, slowed down by a ceramic disc that functions as a sieve, into the filter modules. In individual steps, it is filtered differently depending on the contact with the various filter materials.
